Eric’s Corner recently reached out to our 2025 Scholarship Winner to see how her first year of college was going. We were thrilled to hear back and receive this wonderful update:

 My freshman year at Sacramento State has been an absolutely amazing experience!

When I first applied for this scholarship, I shared my passion for working with children. Throughout my first year of college, that passion has only grown stronger. In the fall, I changed my major to Child and Adolescent Development, a path that aligns perfectly with my career goals. After earning my degree, I plan to pursue a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and become an elementary school teacher.

I am proud to share that I was named to the College of Education Dean’s List for the Fall 2025 semester, and I am currently on track to earn Dean’s List recognition again.

In addition to my studies, I work at a daycare with toddlers. Every day brings new opportunities to learn, grow, and be inspired by the children I work with. I feel incredibly fortunate to gain hands-on experience while pursuing my education and future career.

As I continue my child development courses, I am more excited than ever about what the next few years of college have in store. My first year at Sacramento State has confirmed that I am pursuing the right path, and I look forward to continuing my journey toward becoming an elementary school teacher.
