Congratulations Mischa!
The “Living with Epilepsy” Scholarship is a new initiative crated to support high school seniors in Northern California who are living with epilepsy. Recognizing the unique challenges these students face, the scholarship aims to honor their resilience, determination, and academic achievements as they prepare to begin their college journeys.
Eric’s Corner is proud to announce Mischa Evanchak as the recipient of the 2025 “Living with Epilepsy” Annual Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship recognizes Mischa’s resilience, academic dedication, and commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
A graduating senior from Heritage High School in Brentwood, CA, Mischa was diagnosed with generalized epilepsy during her junior year. Despite the challenges of managing seizures and medication side effects, she maintained a strong GPA, enrolled in Advanced Placement courses, maintained a part-time job, and remained active in school and community service.
Eric Nostrand, board chair of Eric’s Corner, said that “she is a very impressive young woman. She’s persevered through some difficult life changes, and we’re thrilled to support her. We can’t wait to see the impact she makes on her community.”
Mischa plans to attend California State University, Sacramento, where she will pursue a degree in Pediatric Nursing—a dream fueled by her personal experiences and desire to support children with medical challenges.
“Thanks to Eric’s Corner for offering this scholarship”, commented Evanchak. “The financial side of it is very helpful, but it’s also nice to know there are others willing to help people with similar challenges.”
Mischa’s story reflects the mission of Eric’s Corner: to support those impacted by an epilepsy diagnosis. Her courage and determination exemplify the spirit of this scholarship, which is awarded annually to a local high school senior pursuing higher education while managing epilepsy.
